Symposium MCW & Sound and Vision: “Let’s Play Dutch Game History”, 18 Nov. 2016 in Hilversum
You are cordially invited to a symposium organized by the Utrecht University and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Beeld en Geluid) on the topic of the preservation of Dutch computer game history. We present you with a varied program and the opportunity to visit the game exhibition taking place at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. We are happy to announce that Julia Noordergraaf, professor of Digital Heritage at UvA, will be giving a keynote, addressing the issues that arise in documenting interactive media. Also, the results will be presented of research done by Utrecht University into the value of Let’s Play video’s for the preservation of gameplay. During the symposium the joint effort to form a national approach to the preservation of Dutch games will be presented. You can expect other interesting contributions which we will confirm in the following weeks.

- René Glas and Jasper van Vught from Utrecht University present “Lets Play the Archive”, results of research into the value of Let’s Play video’s for game preservation.
- Leiden University’s Value Project on the intersections of archaeology and computergames.
- Julia Noordergraaf, professor of Digital Heritage at UvA, presents on documenting interactivity.
In the morning preceding the symposium you are welcome to visit the game exhibition at Sound and Vision (for free) and the Let’s YouTube and regular exhibition (tickets can be purchased at the desk).
