8th PCI Film Series – ½ Revolution
The Postcolonial Studies Initiative is happy to announce its 8th film series with a selection of films, shown monthly, that draw on a variety of different contexts in our postcolonial world. The series is organized annually and invites all interested in our European postcolonial present and the representation of its political, cultural and aesthetic realities and challenges. Each film will be introduced briefly by scholars connected to the PCI and international guests and filmmakers. The series will take place starting from November until May 2019.
Please join us for our third screening with the film ½ Revolution, which will be introduced by Sara Verderi.
½ Revolution, Omar Shargawi and Karim El Hakim‘s visceral, verite personal documentary focusing on 11 days of the 18-day revolution, captures the ground-level events with a gut-churning immediacy and veracity often missing from news reports, as well as amateur footage posted to the Internet.
Date and time: January 14, 17:00-19:30
Location: Muntstraat 2A, MCW-LAB (Grote Zaal, KNG20)
Admission is free of charge. For more information and updates, visit www.postcolonialstudies.nl and like our Facebook page, or send an e-mail to Prof. Sandra Ponzanesi.
