8th PCI Film Series – Human Flow
The Postcolonial Studies Initiative is happy to announce its 8th film series with a selection of films, shown monthly, that draw on a variety of different contexts in our postcolonial world. The series is organized annually and invites all interested in our European postcolonial present and the representation of its political, cultural and aesthetic realities and challenges. Each film will be introduced briefly by scholars connected to the PCI and international guests and filmmakers. The series will take place starting from November until May 2019.
Please join us for our first screening with the film Human Flow (2017, Ai Weiwei, Germany, USA, China, Palestine), which will be introduced by Sandra Ponzanesi.
About the film: Over 65 million people around the world have been forced from their homes to escape famine, climate change and war in the greatest human displacement since World War II. Human Flow, an epic film journey led by the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei, gives a powerful visual expression to this massive human migration. The documentary elucidates both the staggering scale of the refugee crisis and its profoundly personal human impact.
Date and time: November 26, 17:00-19:30
Location: Muntstraat 2A, MCW-LAB (Grote Zaal, KNG20)
